Plant Medicine FAQ’s
How can I ensure the source of the Medicine is safe?
Ask questions. Before you sign up or agree to take any Plant Medicine, ask the questions: Where is it sourced originally? Who is serving? What is their experience/background? How do you care for me during the journey? Do not be afraid to ask all the questions you feel are necessary. Anyone who meets your questions with scrutiny should be reconsidered immediately.
Are there any health risks associated with the consumption of Plant Medicines?
Like with anything you do in life, there is an inherent risk involved. Therefore, many places that offer these Plant Medicines require you to undergo some form of a health exam before the ceremony. If you are not asked or required to verify a certain level of health standards, you should question the source. I have had many clients told they could not take medicine due to a failed pre-exam. The best course of action is to consult your doctor openly, share all of your intentions and ask for their guidance in verifying your health.
Why do I need to adjust my diet prior to working with Plant Medicine?
What you call your body is, in all honestly, just an accumulation of the food you have consumed. When you eat a banana, that banana becomes part of you; when you eat greasy fried foods, that also become a part of you. By adopting a "clean" diet before working with Plant Medicine, you are essentially creating a more complementary environment for change. In addition, a whole/plant-based diet typically results in mental clarity, which allows you to better process the valuable insights gifted to you. I offer a simple and easy-to-follow diet backed by a partnered dietician I work with. This can be available for free upon request.
Does where I take Plant Medicine matter?
"Set and setting" are absolutely critical in the success of your journey. The environment you are in plays a foundational role in the healing. It is essential that you are in a safe space, have people who care for you and that you are in a good place mentally to undertake this experience. In addition, by immersing yourself in nature, you may find added benefits as the healing can be amplified.
Does it matter who serves the Medicine?
Yes! The person who serves the Medicine must be experienced and well equipped to support you during the journey. Their capacity to hold space for your healing is a foundational element of the journey itself. This is critical for the process of surrender as it allows you to have trust in your provider. Ask about the provider before making any commitment; if things do not feel right, walk away. The Medicine will find you when it is correct. Your healing must start with your safety.
How do I know which one to try?
I am asked this question more than any other. And each time, my response is the same: "What speaks to you?". Your higher self knows and understands exactly what it is you need to be successful. So do your homework, read up on the ones that interest you the most. Check multiple sources and, most importantly, remember that your journey will be unique to you. You will not journey the same as anyone else, and they will not travel the same as you. So trust yourself; if you are genuinely in doubt, shoot me an email, and I will help you through an inner body meditation that enables you to find your way (free, of course).
